Collection Days
- Trash: Monday and Thursday
- Recycling/Bulk/Yard Waste: Thursday
- Subdivisions: Quail Valley East, Thunderbird North, Greenbriar Mission Valley, Plantation Trails, Palm Grove, El Dorado, Bermuda Dunes, Oak Point, The Woods, Mustang Trails, Glen Lakes, Robinson Road, La Quinta, Oyster Creek, Lake Colony, Waters Cove and Parkside.
- Trash: Tuesday and Friday
- Recycling/Bulk/Yard Waste: Tuesday
- Subdivisions: Meadow Creek, Hawes Edition, Quail Green West, Liberty Ridge, Knanaya Homes, Hunters Green, Hunters Park, Woodland West, Parkway Trails, Hunters Glen, Hunters Pointe, Quail Green South, Quail Green and Bradford Village.
Important: Your exact collection day should be verified by address because Missouri City has different service areas. The City’s Residential Solid Waste Collection Interactive Map gives the service area, collection days, holiday schedule and individual pickup calendar.

Holiday Schedule
GFL normally continues collection on the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
So these holidays do not automatically mean a missed trash day.
When to Put Trash Out
Put garbage and recycling at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day.
Service can occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Keep trash and recycling containers at least 5 feet apart.
- Cart handles should face toward your house.
- Having everything out by 7 a.m. is recommended to ensure pickup.
Recycling
GFL collects these weekly:
- Plastic
- Metal cans
- Cardboard
- Glass
- Paper
- Paper cartons
Preparation:
- Rinse containers.
- Flatten cardboard boxes.
- Pizza boxes are not accepted as recycling and should go into regular trash.
Yard Waste
Yard waste must be placed in:
- Heavy-duty lawn/leaf bags
- Bags must be biodegradable or compostable
- Bags must be strong enough to be lifted without breaking.
Do not put yard waste in ordinary plastic garbage bags. If you do, GFL will treat it as regular trash.
For branches/brush:
- Securely bundle them.
- Maximum 4 feet long
- Maximum 40 pounds.
Bulk/Large-Item Pickup
Missouri City’s municipal program provides weekly bulk waste collection.
The bulk collection day is:
- Thursday for Monday/Thursday trash areas.
- Tuesday for Tuesday/Friday trash areas.
Christmas trees are also collected during January on the normal bulk-waste day.
Special Assisted/Valet Service
Missouri City has free assisted/valet trash service for qualifying disabled, elderly and infirm residents. GFL will take the carts from the residence to the curb, empty them, and return them.
A doctor’s signature and contact telephone number are required for the authorization.
